CoSSOL: COMENIUS Multilateral Project

Promoting the 8-key competences

Picture

Lifelong Learning Programme, Comenius Multilateral School Partnership, Project CoSSOL.
Based on the eight key Competences for lifelong learning, the aim of our project is to set out and identify educational approaches, methods and concepts which support the development, as a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to the different contexts.

These competences are tools for empowering the individuals and giving them the motivation, autonomy and responsibility to control their own lives beyond the social circumstances in which they find themselves. We aim to explore how Key Competences can be promoted by developing learning materials and how to develop an education and learning programme  as a “project for life under construction”.
We want to cover some of the Key Competences that are most appropriate and that fits the best our work, with the expectations/outcomes needed for/by the partners envolved.
Every partner in the project will be responsible for one of the eight key Competences and will be in charge of the workshop that is presented during the project meetings. As we are a big group, combinations of partners will be made who work one of the Key Competences.

a) Challenges to be addressed:
• Engendering and sustaining a cross-curricular approach;
• Moving from a subject-based to a multidisciplinary approach, consonant with the needs of individual learners and society as a whole.

b) How:
• Due to the fundamental change in learning processes from an output-oriented to a process-oriented planning and evaluation in educational settings in recent years, and as Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle) have become more and more important to support students in co-operating and collaborative working, we will use this platform. At the same time we will use the new tool: web 2.0, that makes us possible to promote a collaborative work at distance.

Education program:
The best way to use the process of “self organized learning” can be done like this:

a. Courses:
This are mostly instructional lessons for theoretical and factual subjects. It is about basic information. Subjects are strongly related to the knowledge part of the competence. This part of the learning can be done in a way of guided and structured learning with theoretical/factual assignments.
b. Training:
This can be instructional lessons to train skills and other practical handling to achieve the required abilities. Subjects are strongly related to the skills part of the competence. This part of the learning can be done in a mixed way of guided and non-guided learning with practical assignments.
c. Projects:
This part of the education program can be strongly linked to the way of self-organized learning. Teamwork and independency in the learning process are the drivers and challenges for your students. The best way to achieve this way of non guided learning is the use of case studies related to new situations and cases from society and industry.

Dear Rahmi,

thank you for the information about flights to Elazig/Malatia. Please, explain us about the transport we would use from Elazig airport to the hotel and back with late THY flights (Istanbul - Elazig at 21:15 arrival and Elazig - Istanbul at 22:05 departure). I can't find a website of the Elazig airport with information about public transport or taxi. Could you possible ask about the taxi prices between Istanbul Ataturk airport and the Sultanahmed area in Istanbul (at night), because we must stay a night in Istanbul on our back trip to Sofia.
Best regards and greetings from Varna,

Donka

Hi!

Hope you all are safely at home!
Our trip was good, except the hamam on the flight between Istanbul and Helsinki. It was extremely hot in the plane, there was something wrong with the heating/air conditioning system ..

Our warmest thanks to the Turkish team for succesful days and all the help we got. We only can admire how dedicated and helpful you were when solving our questions and problems - nearly without any rest and sleep.

Thank you very much!

Mari and Eija

Dear partners

For about 2 hours ago Aino-Maija, Teemu (student) and Jorma have started their flight to Porto, transiting in Geneva.

I´d like to participate but my dear niece Eveliina is graduating from senior high school on Saturday,
so for her sake I had to stay home and raise champagne glasses with my whole family.

I wish you all nice, productive days in Portugal - my heart will be there too.

Br Eija
